The Role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established farm with a growing team! CMV Farms is undertaking the development of a 280-hectare pistachio orchard, alongside our existing 220-hectare property, 15km from Robinvale, Victoria. We are seeking a full-time Orchard Operations Manager to efficiently manage the daily operations of the orchard.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Property Manager, in this key farm leadership role, you will take a hands-on approach to:

• Overseeing the day-to-day orchard operations by leading a team of workers, providing guidance, training and performance management to ensure efficient and safe daily operations
• Monitoring and adjusting orchard operations in response to changing weather conditions and seasonal variations
• Working closely with the Maintenance Manager and Irrigation Manager to maintain a productive and cohesive farming operation
• Maintaining a full working knowledge of property systems, farm machinery, and all field operations
• Planning, costing and reviewing all aspects of orchard operations
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations

Skills and Experience

• 5+ years’ experience in a senior orchard management role, with a hands-on approach to leading a motivated team of workers
• Excellent technical knowledge of orchard management practices and seasonal programs
• Proven problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to adapt to changing conditions
• Mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of orchard machinery
• Proven commercial acumen with proficiency in Microsoft programs and other relevant software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high quality of work
• A forklift licence and chemical handling certificate are preferable

• Tertiary qualifications in horticulture, agriculture or a related field are looked favourably upon but not essential
